Our two young hosts take your students on a field trip to visit the many people they might find working in a typical community. We meet a farmer, a dentist, and a fireman; visit a police officer, a doctor, and a postal worker; and even get to speak with a garbage collector. Each person describes his or her job and explains why it is vital in a healthy community. Students also learn tips and tricks from the various professionals. They discuss important safety issues, such as when to call 911 and why one shouldn’t play with matches. Our dental hygienist demonstrates correct brushing and flossing techniques. The two hosts also learn the importance of taking an interest in your own community. They discuss the importance of being “responsible” and the joys of helping out when you can.
